moving, step 1

Yesterday was the first (and probably one of the only) nice day of the year here. It was about 77 degrees and NOT humid! It was the best. Jay and I spent it looking for apartments.

In short, the house we live in is very old and more than a pain in the butt to heat and cool. We looked at a few, and we think we found an awesome new place - a 2 story townhouse, with 2 bedrooms and 1 & 1/2 baths (full bath with toilet / bathtub / sink upstairs and toilet / sink downstairs). The model we saw was pretty great and beautifully laid out. It's cheaper and bigger than the other ones we saw, and pretty close to both of our jobs (though hopefully soon I'll be at a different job...) We've got a coupla more places to check out "just to be sure" but I for one am pretty set on the townhouse.

So after we check out the remaining places on Tuesday, we're going to drop off a fairly large, mostly non-refundable check. There's a holding deposit, pet deposit, application fee x2, first month's rent, etc, etc, etc. Some of it is due with the application and the rest a few weeks later when we actually get the keys and move in. Not sure where we're suddenly going to come up with like $1500, but we don't have a choice. On a semi-related note, anyone wanna buy anything?

So that's my update for now.

Oh moving. I'm practically a pro by now. I must warn you when it comes to townhouses---you can hear everything. Somehow, in my experience, there's more noise than in an apartment. But at the same time, my neighbors are a$$h0les so maybe yours will be more quiet. Good luck with the search.

I tried to leave you a comment yesterday but I must have typed the wrong word verification. Anyway--well? Which one did you choose?

We ended up not going to check out the other ones, because Jay wasn't feeling well on Tuesday (our next day off). So we put down a deposit on the townhouse! We're just waiting to get the official "ok go" but that should be no problem. I lived in a townhouse befre back in CA, and I loved it, so I'm really excited. I'll keep you all updated. :)
