how was your day at work, des?

Hmmm... I started out getting dressed, complaining about the "mandatory" shirts I have to wear now. They're not so bad, just polos with the store logo on them. However, mine were ordered for someone else (since I didn't exist yet) and they are size XL. I've never worn anything XL in my life. They did shrink a bit after being baked in hot water so they aren't dresses anymore, but they are still big. It's hard to feel sexy in a shirt that is pretty much a shapeless bag. And I won't even go into how the colors (black, burgundy, powder blue, or yellowish-cream) look horrid on me.

But I can deal with shirts. I just wear them over whatever I was already wearing. They'll keep me a little warmer right? This is a good theory, because I walked into work (through the snow because this is Michigan in January) this morning and it wasn't warm. The fan was on, though, so I thought it would get warm, like it always does. After about 10-15 minutes, the temperature hadn't moved. It was stuck at 40 degrees. That was awesome when my hands froze and fell off. I called Big Boss Man and complained, but meanwhile, wonderful Jay drove down with a care package for me. He brought me gloves (which I'd asked for), a hat, a space heater, and hot chocolate. Doesn't he rule? Soon enough, Big Boss Man called back and told me to try removing the batteries in the thermostat and waiting a few minutes before replacing them. Who knew my heating system was controlled by batteries? But it worked.

So I had heat again... this was good. But then Big Boss Man came down to the store himself, and discovered* that the roof in the bathroom was leaking. So he took some of the interior panels down, allowing it to drip freely. Now it looks like this:

You can see the water dripping (reflecting the flash) in the first pic. I don't know why the floor looks like milk though. (As always, to click to enlarge.)

So that was my day.

*I have it on good authority that he was told of this previously. I never noticed it, myself.
