Maybe it's the lack of foodnsleep talking, but I hate inter-office Secret Santas. I don't even work in an office, yet I still have to go out and find something (under $15!) to buy for someone that I barely even know. And I'm one of the lucky ones. Some people have to give gifts to people they've never heard of. But still, none of us have known each other more than a few weeks.
The guy I drew is actually one of my favorite coworkers> I have a super fabulous time when he's there, but I don't know wtf to buy for him. By Monday night. I can't buy him something from the store that we both work in together even though that's where I spend all my time. I don't want to do some stupid inane impersonal gift certificate to see a movie or something, because I like the guy. I just don't know what to buy him.
What do y'all do?

Buy him a CUSS mug. That seems to be my solution to everything. Ha ha ha ha.
Somehow I don't think he would appreciate it as much as me or you.
:)
Gift card. Seriously.
I would do a gift card. Does he drink coffee? Could you get him one to Starbucks? This sounds really weird, but the Secret Santa gifts I've used the most have always been nice pairs of socks.
i have always been in the Gift Cards Are Awesome camp. i've never figured out why people think they're lame. i would much rather get a gift card than some stupid thing that will gather dust or go directly to the trash or local thrift store. i'm pragmatic, what can i say?
the trick to making it fun is getting one from a fun or a very clearly giftee-appreciated establishment.
I am also pro gift card.
Which is what I ended up with. I'm sure I'll write about it later.
:)
