cliche

I have to work on Halloween. Poo. Oh course I'm not working late into the night, but I am working late enough to miss the parade. And I have to open at the bookstore Thursday, so I can't stay out too terribly late. But my point in life is to dress up in costumes. Clearly I'm not going to dress in full anything regalia while thousands of Power Rangers and "Scream" ghosts* run around me because I'm still expected to work under these conditions.

So I planned on doing the logical thing, which is wearing my tiger ears. It's just a fuzzy headband with 2 cute little striped ears on top. It rocks and it shows that I'm still "fun." And yes, I've been known to wear these tiger ears on non-Halloween occasions. So imagine my dismay when this year I went to fish them out and discovered that *apparently* the tiger ears did not make the trip out to NYC.

The only thing even pseudo- close was a pair of devil horns. Here's what I looked like, unhappy with my discovery.

I can't wear these. I don't even know why I have them. Everyone wears devil horns. I am not that chick. I am a tiger, pure and simple. But I have no ears.

A.G.G.R.A.V.A.T.I.O.N.

As a last resort, I might try to make something cooler out of them, using my crafty superpowers.

* Can you tell I have no idea what kids these days are wearing as costumes?

ps - C is no longer surprised when I randomly approach him with a camera. He can say it along with me: "The world needs to know!"

You look cute in them, though. I am sad that you are working and we cannot cavort. Assuming that my dirndl doesn't fit, I think I am going to wear my wedding dress and borrow Husband's toy scepter and be a princess. Just like every freakin' six year old girl out there, although I'll have higher heels.

You'll beat out those 6 year olds yet!

You can make them JEWELED devil horns, since you are the jewelry-crafting goddess, after all. Flaunt 'em if you got 'em babay.

I did the next best thing - I covered them in glitter!

I'll have to put up a pic tomorry.

Actually, couldn't you modify them some way with tiger-striped material and make them tiger ears?

You're smart & talented...why not?

Whoops...spoke 2 soon.

I thought about changing my mind on my Halloween attitude and digging out an old, black hooded robe of my husband's to wear to work today. As it turns out, I must have given it to Goodwill or something, because it wasn't where it should have been. My only other option is a Cleopatra costume. Um, no. So, I'm just going to work as myself again.

Sudie, ha ha, I acted too fast for you!

Jane, some costumes are party-specific. Cleopatra sounds like one that you would *not* wear to work...

I really like dressing up. I would do it every day if I could.

I like how you can see C in the mirror behind you, but his face is obscured by the flash. It is very mysterious.

I can safely say that I didn't see anyone with devil horns yesterday. Guess that's just not cool anymore :)
