we found one! fate?

Today was a fateful day. There were 2 open houses for apartments that we were supposed to go to. We woke up late and took our time getting ready so we left the house later than we meant to. Then, we waited for the bus. And waited. And waited. Besides the fact that we had forgotten the checkbook at home, we were sick of waiting for ever-impressive MTA to get their poop together and have the buses run. We gave up and headed home, and wouldn't ya know it, as soon as we're across the street (diagonally) the bus comes and we can't get back in time. So there went the first place.

Then in between time, we thought about the second place and realized there was no point in moving there because the neighborhood is just like our current one. Sure there are restaurants, but they are the same fried chicken and scary Chinese places that we have now and are of no use to us. There went the second place.

We decided to head down to Park Slope anyway, to check out a realtor we've been eyeing. The only reason we like them is because they had many apartments that were no-fee. No fee is a good fee. They were supposed to be open til 4, and we made it there by 3:30 (because of the aforementioned inadequacies of the MTA). How nice of them. They closed early. Fine. We didn't want to give them our business anyway.

So we wandered around the 'hood, which was actually quite realtor-heavy. We talked to one that had something a little more than we wanted but right next to the Botanic Garden. I love the Botanic Garden. Instructions were to call her back for an appointment to go see that place. So we wandered some more. We found another realtor that had something posted in the window to our liking. Turns out, he had another "secret" apartment that was much better, and he would show us right then because he was walking home from work and it was on the way.

Um... best apartment ever? Yes! The building has 3 apartments and 3 floors. Figure that one out. We would be on the top, in our own private psuedo-suite. There were 2 (two!) entrances to the apt. from the hallway, and 5 (five!) separate rooms. We could have a guest bedroom and an office. Lots of windows. Lots of closet space. And... the realtor could talk to the guy and knock a coupla hundred bucks off the rent.

How's the neighborhood, since that is the whole reason we're moving? Awesome. 5th ave in Brooklyn is home to many bars and restaurants. There is a laundromat a block away. The park is about a mile away. And, we have a coupla friends a block away. We were actually telling the realtor about our "close" friends when we ran into one of them on the street. How's that for fate?

So we're going down tomorrow to fill out the application which *should* be approved and then we start moving.

Eeeee!
