just email me

I've gotten 2 interesting messages at work lately.

Yeah hi Denise this is blah blah blah and I'm very important.

Clearly he is an important man. He can't even be bothered to listen to the name of the person he's leaving a message for. There's no Denise here, so I won't waste his valuable time by calling him back.

Desiree, my name is Bruce and it is imperative that you call me back at 1-800-whatever. This is not a sales call; it is a very important matter.

In fact, it is so important that it has been classified as "top secret" so that he can't even mention the subject matter until I call him. I didn't even consider the fact that it might be a sales call (why would a telemarketer talk to an Accounts Payable person in a large company?) until he repeatedly insisted it wasn't. He's called 3 times with the same message, not registering that I'm not going to call him back because I have no idea what he wants. What company is he calling from? What "important matter" is this regarding? No clue.

This is why I'm not a good "phone person."

Bwah hah hah!

I love the "...and I'm important" guy. I'm going to start using that in my daily doings, if that's all right. Just after the introduction, yep, "...and I'm important." Maybe I'll amend it to fit my personality. "...and I'm important, bitch." Hee.

my favorite was when i got a vague voicemail from a phone company we have service with. so i called back and they asked me to confirm the account address, which i couldn't do. she was all, well, that doesn't match our records. and i was all, well, what the hell do i care? YOU called ME, lady.

I hate people on the phone. I could never be the guy that calls people.

What about when they call you and then put you on hold? I just hang up.
