a peek into the less exciting life of des

Because I am that bored, I've decided to show you how I spend my days, a la Suzanne and the tours of her parents' house.

First, look at the picture. Now that I have a camera on my phone, I spend my time very wisely. (Click on it to make it larger.)

First off, notice that the desktop picture on my computer is a very similar picture of the same office that I took right before this one. It made me laugh really hard, so I took it down later. The other picture is from a slightly different angle because the first one had a big glare from the window directly opposite (not pictured).

First notice the giant calendar. This is a yearly gift from our major paper supplier. You can write on it. As you can see, I have made blue Xs on all the days that I don't have to come to work. Feb 19 is President's day, and then the last week of March I will be in CA. As you can tell, I'm very excited about time off.

Next are the pictures. The polaroid is me & The Boyfriend at the 2005 NYU Law School Fall Ball. We are wearing masks because it is Halloween.

The blue is a cd cover from Megan's KDVS fundraiser cd from last year. I was later given a fancier version of the cover, so I brought the old one in to work so I can pretend I'm listening to obscure 60s psychadelic rock with my friend instead of being in a stupid cubicle.

Above that is a stack of photos of Mecru. The one currently showing is the cat sitting in an old china hutch with the dishes. You know, where cats go.

The greenish-gray is a postcard of a pretty, sparkly painting that my friend sent me from San Francisco. It says some very nice things about how best friends are super, and it makes me happy to look at.

(Incidentally, those are the pictures I saved when the building was on fire.)

Then there is a giant photocopy of the back of a Calvin & Hobbes book, Hobbes waking up, walking in circles, and going back to sleep. I like Calvin & Hobbes. In fact, the rest of the (unpictured) walls are covered in comics: Calvin & Hobbes, Frazz, and Foxtrot. Plus the mandatory Dilbert that comes with the cubicle.

On the actual building wall to the left of this picture is a picture of 2 penguins. It's the same picture that is now tattooed on my shoulder. I can't do much with that wall.

As you can see, I decorate with things that make me happy. In my head I have a CUSS sticker up, but not in actuality because that would lead to things that I don't want it to lead to. I think you can tell what gives me escapist happiness.

So now you see exactly where I spend 8am -5 pm on weekdays. This is exactly what I stare at all day, except the computer screen changes. I'd show you the rest of my cubicle, but this is really the most exciting part. Do you now understand why I'm slightly mad?

Kick some ass tomorrow so that you can get out of that cube, as delightful as you make it seem.

I'm feeling really good about it.

I tend to think of you more as 'daft' than 'mad' but that's just me!

Thanks Amy... you're daft too.

Looks so productive...do you whistle while you work?

No whistling, but I'm a hell of a lip-syncher!
