Cockroach!

In my home, my sanctuary. A place specifically designated as a Cockroach Free Zone.

Sister in Law opened the cupboard under the sink to throw something away, and made the announcement, a bit startled, that a cockroach ran across the top of the trash can. I stayed in the living room in the fetal position while SIL & The Boyfriend handled the situation.

Apparently cockroaches lay eggs in paper bags, and then our Trader Joe’s shopping brings them home to our house, where they lay dormant for several months until they jump out and try to crawl on me. There was much removal of trash & paper bags (which are now banned from my sight) and a bit of smashing with a shoe while I still stayed in the other room whimpering. The next morning several cockroach-poison-traps were put into place, out of sight & out of cat reach. I was assured there will be no more clicky invaders, but the traps are a precaution.

I’m still a little nervous when I open the cupboard under the sink. And there’s the slight lingering feeling that since I never actually saw any cockroaches (there were 2) then it could just be a cruel joke. But that would result in much worse things than having my housemates swiftly take care of the problem and not ask for my participation. That actually shows how much they love me.

Welcome to 2007!

I've never even seen a real cockroach and I'm kind of glad..

Wow, you are lucky that you've been here more than a year and this was your first run in with the invaders. But still, I sympathize. Roaches are gross.

I can't believe you've never seen a real cockroach. They are gross.

suz - I've seen them other places in the city, but the Boyfriend is pretty good about steering me clear of them.
