thursday night scramble

My life as a bachelorette only lasted 2 days this time. Wednesday was Dr. Fondue Day (those are 2 separate things, by the way) and I didn't get home til late anyway, so having a boy at home wouldn't have mattered.

Thursday was a bit more hectic. I had to drop off my new rx at the pharmacy so I could begin taking it. Normally I go to the gym on Thursdays*, and since I didn't go last week before I left (what with the cold taking away my ability to breathe) I thought I should squeeze in a session while my rx was being filled. I didn't account for the time spent on the train going the 3 extra stops uptown, which made for a total of 12 train stops that I don't normally do:

work --> pharm --> gym --> pharm --> home
= uptown 5 stops --> down 3 stops --> up 3 stops --> down 3 stops --> normal route home (2 stops).

I also never did the dishes when I came back, and since I hadn't done them for a couple days before we left, I had no clean dishes with which to cook or eat dinner. So I stopped by a yummy restaurant a couple blocks from the pharm and ordered my food. After picking that up, I finally went home and ate at 8pm, starving from the calories burned at the gym and my lunch being 6 hours earlier. Then I was really full, so I watched the Simpsons while my vegan chicken sandwich digested. Then I was cold, so I drank some tea. Sleepytime tea. I fell asleep on the couch with the cat purring on my lap.

I woke up at 10, house still a mess for Boyfriend & Sis-in-Law's arrival tonight. I managed to do the dishes, a load of laundry, change the catbox, wipe off the stovetop (more daunting than it sounds) and sweep. Then I fell into my bed, worn out from the workout.

Today I have to swing by the Ghetto Supermarket to pick up things like paper towels and more cat litter, because why would I have done that before I left? Luckily we leave work an hour earlier (mostly good because I'm not doing any work anyway) so when their plane touches down around 5ish, I'll have a jump on finishing cleaning and preparing the home for a guest.

The main thing I've learned is that even though I think I will have all this free time as a bachelorette (I'll do some beading! I'll study for my test! I'll play some video games! I'll watch my new DVD!) I didn't do a single one of those things that I wanted to. I barely did the things I was supposed to do. But I have the loverly 3 day weekend coming up, and - no, I still won't do anything. BUT - I will be entertaining an out-of-towner, so I will be doing fun things nonetheless.

*I don't plan my gym schedule around the xm radio shows, but can I help if it the rockabilly show just "happens" to be on at 6 on Thursdays?

Reading this just made me very very tired.

I always have great plans for cleaning my house that never seem to happen. I also always have these grandiose plans before holidays and vacations that involve my house being in the perfect order. For some reason that never seems to happen either :)
