winter cleaning

It started out as a pajama day. Well technically, it always was a pajama day, because I am still in my pajamas and I haven't left the house. But it started out as a real do nothing pajama day. We watched hours of The Venture Brothers. We ordered pizza. Then I decided I should move my sweaters from the closet to my dresser, as I am starting to need them now.

That involved cleaning out a dresser drawer full of t-shirts and stuffing them into another drawer full of t-shirts, then stuffing the sweaters into the now-empty drawer. I realized I ahould probably make my hat / glove / scarf box more accesible as well, so I cleaned out a bit of the wardrobe and moved my makeup case there, from where it has been sitting the last several months on top of the winter accessory case.

Since I now had lots of empty space in the bedroom closet, I figured I should move my shoes in there from the front closet. While doing this, I noticed there was a bunch of stuff in the front closet that could be tidied. Old road maps? No longer need those since I don't have a car. Big fuzzy blanket? Well I might as well pull that down now. Hey, this big box can fit in that empty space. So can this one, if I combine the contents of these two partially-filled boxes into it. Let's go find something else to put in the closet.

This logic eventually lead to the following:
1. Partially re-arranging the bedroom.
2. Partially re-arranging the living room.
3. Switching the shelves from the kitchen with the table from the living room, and finding new places for all the stuff that was on each.
4. Finally organizing the cds into manageable shelves instead of scary random piles, and the burned cds all in cd books - books separated of course by computer stuff versus music. Turns out we have about 500 (music) cds that for the past year-plus have been sitting in threatening disorganized piles, which I in turn have faithfully avoided.
5. Hanging the pictures that have been sitting in boxes forever.
6. Making a list of things we need to buy now that we have the room (more bookshelves!).

Thankfully, I did not attempt this rather large endeavor by myself; seems The Boyfriend would rather clean and re-arrange the house than study law school stuff. And we did it all thanks to our store of quick pizza energy.

The only things that remain amiss are the stacks of comic books / graphic novels. Their old place was taken by the newly organized cds, and we do not yet have any new bookshelves, so these easy-reading books are now in a convenient pile on the floor. (And no, they are not collectors' items. I'm not that stupid.)

Oh, and I dyed my hair purple.

Cool! now you can come over and we can arrange the basement. I wanted to put in a little love nest, with built-in appliances and strategically located straps and hooks and all.

I'll feed you pizza. C'mon.

That sounds like a lot of work.

Do the Venture Brothers rock or what? I think it was the magical invigorating powers of the Venture Brothers that gave you the energy to do all that rearranging (but I bet the pizza didn't hurt either.

Your hair must look great. I can't wait to see it while eating at the automat.

And you can probably use the sweaters this week. Good thinking on all counts, as always.

sg - I was all Go team Venture! all day.

suz - the automat is pinky / magenta neon, so I'm sure the purple looks simply fabulous. And I wore a new, easy-to-get-to sweater today!
