About a year and a half ago, my dad passed away. My stepmom recently decided to go through things, and the only thing I asked for was this:

It's a real tarantula, encased in lucite or something. (I included a bottle cap so you could see the size. It's bigger than my hand.) I'm not sure why I wanted it. I mean obviously it reminds me of my dad, but it was just something that was in my house growing up. I don't know where he got it or when, but I do know that he used to terrorize his little sister with it, so it's at least 50 years old.
So I have that now.

I remember your post about losing your dad. Isn't it funny the things we want to hold on to after we lose a person? I like that tarantula- it must have mean something to him to have kept it that long. So now it means something even deeper for you.
