everybody else is doing it - the ABCs of des

I know I haven’t blogged in a while. Man, this working for a living thing really gets in the way! I feel like when I lived in NYC I did more stuff after work. But I had a different home life.

And I haven’t forgotten about those of you I promised to interview. Or maybe I did forget and was just reminded. I’ll get to it. I swear!

This is stolen from a few people, and a few different versions.

A is for age. 27. My bday was just last month (June 14 Flag Day).

Accent: I have a wonderful mix of CA Valley Girl / Hardened New Yorker (Brookynite!) / Honest Midwesterner, plus whatever dialect I happen to be feeling that way. Also, I think I pronounce some words their own way, inconsistent with those other things. Is it any wonder I like to hear myself talk?

Also, there’s an accent mark over the 3rd E in my name.

B is for Burger of Choice. I loves me some In N Out grilled cheese, animal style, with ketchup & mustard instead of spread. See, I still have my order memorized even though there are no In N Outs within 2000 miles of here. YOu can bet I'll be getting some wen I go to CA in October for my sister's wedding!

Breakfast or no breakfast: Workdays, breakfast consists of coffee with chocolate soy milk and 2 tiny muffins, followed a few hours later by a chewy granola bar. Weekends, my Jason makes me eggs & veggie bacon or whatever I want. I eat better when someone else in charge of feeding me.

C is for Car. Nothing yet, but I am slowly but surely saving up my money for a new mini cooper. In theory, I should have it in November.

Chore I don’t care for: Cleaning up animal poop, be it dog-on-grass, or cat-in-litter. But I still have to do it, sometimes multiple times a day.

D is for daughters. um, maybe someday? But that means I'd be the one potty training & having sex talks (my husband gets the boys). Ok, I can handle that.

Dog or Cat: I have both, though technically the dog is Jay’s. But we may be getting another puppy soon….

Essential Electronics: My phone, as it doubles as a clock / alarm, and my cam & computer. Duh.

F is for favorite tv show. I'm still a big Futurama fan, but when I'm actually watching real tv, I like the Office & My Name is Earl. Both make me laugh, and that's good.

Favorite Cologne: I’m not so big on things like that. I wrinkle my nose in your general direction.

G is for groceries: Yeah, I should probably go buy some.

Gold or Silver: Silver. Unless it’s white gold. Material doesn’t matter: I’m all about color.

H is for how often you embarrass yourself. Never! You have to have some sense of shame to get embarrassed. I might embarrass other people, but never myself.

Handbag I carry most often: It’s more of a backpack per se, but sometimes I do hold it in my hand.

I is for ice cream. Yes please.

Insomnia: No thanks. I have a very comfy bed that lulls me to sleep.

J is for juice. Again with the yes please.

Job Title: Office chick. I answer the phones, research car parts, and play computer games. It’s pretty awesome.

Kids: None yet. Maybe someday, though I still want nothing to do with that whole pregnancy & labor thing. Maybe I’ll adopt a cute little Thai girl like my friend JBeeky.

L is for Lipstick. I have a few I like. The best is "gash" by Urban Decay, but they stopped making it in a non-liquid form.
Living Arrangements: Me, the boy, the dog, and the cat, all in a 2 bedroom ground floor apartment. Like I said, we may be adding a puppy into that mix soon.

M is for Mexican food. Cheese enchilada & a bean burrito. NYC had horrible Mexican food. I'm glad Michigan has at least one good place. I'll prob eat some o'that in October too.

Most Admirable Trait: my totally super awesomeness.

N is for number of piercings. 13, all in my ears. Back in the day (which was a Wednesday, btw) I had my lip pierced. That was cool, but I took it out. I still have a little dot where it was.

Naughtiest Childhood Behavior: I was kind of a brat to my sister. Sorry, Deidra! One time I threw up spaghetti on her, but it wasn't on purpose. And it still makes me laugh.

O is for Optometry. I wear glasses every now & again. But they're broken so I rather suffer poor eyesight than nose pain.

Overnight hospital stays: Never had one, and hope never to.

P is for People You Were With Today. Coworkers, Jayson, random people at work. Pretty standard.

Phobias: I realized recently that having my face eaten seems to be an issue. I always assume squirrels are trying to do it, and I use it as a threat when Mecru misbehaves. “Get out of there or I will eat your face!” But he always calls my bluff, because as a vegetarian that doesn’t like fuzzy food, I’m not actually going to eat the cat’s face, and he knows it.

Q is for Quiet Time. I likes me some quiet time, though usually there is tv or music in the background. Depends on my mood.

Quote: "I haven't any right to criticise books, and I don't do it except when I hate them. I often want to criticise Jane Austen, but her books madden me so that I can't conceal my frenzy from the reader; and therefore I have to stop every time I begin. Everytime I read 'Pride and Prejudice' I want to dig her up and beat her over the skull with her own shin-bone."
-Mark Twain

It really is the best quote ever, because it’s so true. I think Mark Twain somehow traveled forward in time and got my opinion on the matter, then copied it verbatim. I’m cool with it.

R is for Biggest Regret. I don't believe in regrets. Learn from your mistakes, dammit. Then don't do it again.

Reason to smile: Things are often funny. And if I’m not smiling, I am frowny.

S is for sports you play. yeah no. I don't even play sports-themed video games.

Siblings: Yeah, I got some of those.

T is for tattoo. 5. Or 7, depending on how you count. The big one took 3 sessions, so I kinda count it as 3. But I've got a bat, penguin, faerie, roses, and flowers. The flowers are the big one.

Time I wake up: Workdays, 6:30am. Weekends, um, whenever I feel like it.

U is for what is unique about you. Everything. Every single thing. If you don't agree, you haven't been reading this blog long enough.

Vegetable I Refuse to Eat: asparagus. It's my arch nemesis in the food world. Ick.

V is for Vegetables you Love. Lots of 'em: corn, carrots, pretty much all of them.

Worst Habit: I let my face convey what I'm thinking, so if I don't like you, you can tell. It works out for me, but other people don't get quite the kick out of it. Is that a habit?

X is for number of X-rays: None recently. I don't want to think about my last one. It wasn't when I cracked my rib though, because it would have cost me $$ and the doctor was like "all it will do is confirm it. We can't do anything for you." So nyah.

Yummy Stuff: Ice cream. And strawberries.

Zoo Animal I like Most: Penguins and tigers, duh. One time I pet a tiger, but I've yet to pet a penguin. That was kind of a tongue twister.

Z is for Zodiac. Gemini! In fact, my next tattoo will be the gemini sign. After I pay for all that other stuff I want & need.

So that was super. Do it if ya want. Maybe someday I'll get back to writing actual things that aren't alphabetically aligned.

So with you on the sports thing.

Oh Mexican food. Just reading your answer made me hungry because MrPea and I just found a good place for Mexican and we've been looking for one for like years now. Maybe tonight...

Oh and I heart the Twain quote too.

Of course. Twins. Like always.

I'm intrigued by this grilled cheese sandwich.

They grill the cheese on the bun, then put everything else on it like it was a normal hamburger. Just no meat! It's super great for those of us not eating the beef part.

It doesn't make you a dork, it just means we have different taste.

And I know your name is the same, but I don't think you spell it the same.
