thank the trolls

I don't know if lately my readers have become more sensitive, or I've just changed so much, but recently there have been a lot of personal attacks on des via blog comments. I've deleted some of them and kept others, but unfortunately now I have to put on comment moderation. A few bad apples have ruined it for the rest of my wonderful readers and commenters.

But I still want to throw a things out there:

This is my blog. I will write whatever I choose on it. Not every detail of my personal life is posted, and other things may be exaggerated. Did you see how the slogan says "based on real life?" Yeah that means that names and details may have been changed, omitted, or completely fabricated. I do make generalizations, but that is all I can do living one life.

Things I have said have been totally misconstrued by trolls: sure I said that Michiganders / Midwesterners go bowling (for example) but if you go back and read the original post, you'll see that nowhere do I say that every person bowls, or that bowling is a bad thing. In fact I admit to bowling myself. To most readers, it seems like I am adapting by finding a new hobby based on the people I hang out with. But to the trolls, I've committed some heinous offense.

That's just one example. Over the last coupla weeks, there have been many more. So if you don't like something I've written, stop reading it. Move along. I'm still going to write this blog, whether I have comments or not. It is one of the ways I keep in touch with all the people I've moved away from, and all the new friends I've made along the way. I enjoy having a semi-"dialog" with these people, but not the ones who just want to insult me, call me names, or pick fights.

Seriously people, I'm writing about my life, which last time I checked was not a controversial subject.

My friends know how to reach me if they want to give their input.

Damn straight! I'm hardcore about deleting trollish comments on my blog, too (unless they're from my sister or someone else that I know is mostly kidding).

gotta love the 'a nonny mouse' comments. blar!

It's the anonymous ones that really get my goat. If someone has a valid name (and link) they automatically get more credit, whether or not I know them. It's when someone is too cowardly to post their name that makes me want to choke people.

Sorry to hear about the trolls.

Sorry I've been so persnickety lately. {sheepish grin}

However, as for trolls, I find that they provide excellent fodder for ongoing mockery. Not that I'd want my blog overtaken by trolls, or even comments that are truly nasty (like threatening violence), but I sadly sort of look forward to the random jabs that come up every so often at CUSS. I'm a freak, I know.
