snowed in

Have I mentioned that it snows in MI? Well it does. And since I've only lived here during the winter, I'm convinced that it Never. Stops. Snowing. Last night it was - surprise - snowing, and it took my poor Jason 4 hours to get home from work. (Maybe he tried to go to work today but realized it would take just as long, so he is home making me breakfast. Just sayin.) Aside from all this, the snow does make for some awesome pictures. Have I mentioned lately that I heart my new camera?

ps - these pictures were all taken at night, which explains the cool coloring.

I think this one is very nice, in a Thomas Kincaid postcard / miniature xmas village sort of way.

The only reason I show this last one is to indicate that it was snowing while I was outside, and if you click on it to make it bigger, you will see 2 little shining eyes and the outline of a very black dog that ran into the picture specifically to ruin it by pooping. Luckily his name is Midnight for a reason, so you can't really see him.

I grew up in North Dakota. I grew up in a place where they actually have gates that they can swing across the highway to literally LOCK the highway to prevent people from driving on them and where it can get so cold that if you go outside and breathe you can die...Welcome to the North. Have you had the "Why the hell does it need to be this cold?" moment yet?

I have not yet had that moment because I have multiple warm fuzzy coats and we keep the house so warm inside that we could walk around naked if we wanted to. You know, to keep the pets happy. :)

And if I do have that moment, that is the moment when I will pack up and move home to sunny CA.

I love that the photo that Midnight "ruined" is titled pooping.jpg!

My parents are digging out from under 8 inches of snow right now. My mom said that my dad was out shoveling so long that she got worried and flicked the light on and off so he would report in. For no good reason, the picture of Midnight crapping in the snow made me think of my mom beckoning to my dad.

Snow is pretty. I like the crunch-crunch sound it makes when walking. I want to hug that dog.

Suz, I'm not sure how many inches we have, but it's enough to make me thankful for my orange rubber boots.
I hope your parents realize that dogs pooping remind you of them.

steph, what would you have called it?

pea, please wait til he is done pooping, as it can be very stinky and messy.

Welcome to the Midwest! I was just in Chicago last week at my parents' house and we got hit with a snow storm.

That shot of Midnight made me laugh so hard. The other ones are quite pretty, for, you know, snow.

Did you say orange RUBBER boots? Please, for the love of all that is holy, tell me that they are lined with something that is warm and/or fuzzy. The thought of you running about in the frozen wasteland of the north in rubber boots makes my toes hurt.

yes, they are unlined rubber. They are just used for the few minutes when I'm out walking the dog. When I'm doing things that require more than that, I have moon boots which are toasty warm (though not as tall).
