taking the next step

Craig & I have decided to take the next step in our relationship. It's something we've been talking about for a while, but now circumstances have forced it upon us.

That's right, we're going to buy a set of matching luggage.

When we moved to NY, I mentioned we should do this because of all the traveling we would be doing. He said our old duffle bags were fine. And it's true, I did love my old green bag. It went to Argentina with me. It's done its share of airplane and train travel. But alas and alack, no more.

C took my bag with him on his recent business trip. As a result of a random security check, my green bag now has a large rip in the side from where someone obviously doesn't know how to re-zip a full bag. You don't grab it by the handle and pull. You grab it by the base of the zipper. But they didn't do this, so now my happy green bag has a large tear that is probably not repairable. Thanks a lot, JFK.

Good thing I'm not flying anywhere in the near future. Oh wait, Chicago in 4 days, then CA 4 days after that, then home again, then to the Jersey shore. So I have to take C's giant bag (which I was going to do anyway thanks to my bridesmaid's dress). But still. Off to Macy's we go.

I consider it a big step because the one thing I remember from my parents' divorce was that they split the luggage set. Then each would always complain that they didn't have enough bags. In reality they should have not split the bags, and someone bought another set, but ce la vie.

ps - I don't really consider this a major relationship step.

Gee...are you sure you want to take your relationship to that step? Matching luggage changes everything so you have to be SURE. I've been married for 10 years and we still don't have matching luggage so...just a warning.

Sorry about your skirt-what size do you wear? I have a blue skirt with lace on the trim I bought forever ago and never wear...

Well we've decided to take the step, but that's as far as we've gotten. No details yet.
