something's going down

Every day, I leave my apartment building, turn left, walk to the corner, turn left again, and then it's a pretty straight shot to the subway station. This morning however, as I walked through the vestibule approaching the door to the outside world, I could see a police car parked out front. It is a little odd to have police cars in my quiet neighborhood, but not unheard of. When I opened the door, I saw another police car. And another. And a van. And a truck. A total of 8 police vehicles. And a crowd of police officers.

I must have stood there confused for too long because a policewoman approached me and asked if I had a question. "Can I just walk through?" No. I had to cross the street and go around. Apparently I could not walk in front of the building directly to the left of my own. After I crossed the street, I looked back for a final survey of the scene. Another policewoman, on the side of the street where I had just come from yelled at me "Hey! Go! Keep Moving!" So I walked to the corner and crossed the street to go my normal route. I don't think I was supposed to cross back so soon, but I needed to get to the train so I could get to work.

I don't think I was in any danger. There wasn't a shootout happening or anything. But the neighborhood people I passed were upset they had been displaced. I didn't get a chance to ask any of the regulars what happened. All I saw was 2 women that I'd never seen before talking through small tears to more police officers, next to one of the vans.

So that was my morning.

A van?! Doesn't that mean it's a forensics team. Or is it the SWAT.

Police vans are pretty common here.

Yes.. in Cheerios and Chickens land... we are lucky if a cop car passes our house once a month.

However... we have a cop car/ ambulance come to my school about once a week. :)

Maybe CSI is filming something... did you see Gary Sinese and the gorgeous curly haired lady???

I wish I saw Gary. I'd yell "Lieutenant Dan!"

I didn't see any cameras though, in the short glance I was allowed.

Wow! If you're anything like me, you're dying to find out that the rest of the story--watching the clock until you can go home and ask your neighbors what they might know... Heck, it's not even my neighborhood and I'm dying to find out the rest of the story. You'll keep us posted, right?
