You may or may not remember that up until one day ago, my hair was a lovely mix of black, blue/green, and purple. It is now champagne blond with patches of a lovely golden brown. I'll post a picture after my camera comes back from CA on Saturday night. I feel kinda like I look like I spent corpulous amounts of money to have this done in a salon, but you all know that I did it all by myself for less than 10 bucks. I normally do it for less, but the Feria combination of bleach and dye promised more than my $2 Jerome Russell powder bleach. Since I was trying to rid myself of black, I spent the extra money. I think it was worth it.
So now that I am once again a blonde, and it has been a while, I feel the compulsion to wear red lipstick and red hair accessories. I can wear these things anyway of course, but it's more fun to do them as a blonde. Blondes have more fun and whatever. Then I remembered that I broke my favorite headband, which looked like Dorothy's ruby slippers in headband form. I have another one that I painted with red sparkly nail polish, but it isn't as bright and doesn't have the same texture. Resolved: I will have to buy a new sparkly red headband. And some matching shoes.
Ok, so that was mundane. But my hair's almost long enough that it does that curling thing again, so I totally feel like a pin-up girl when I'm wearing the right clothes (not my work clothes, obviously). This is a look I may have to cultivate. I'd better go shopping for new dresses.*
Let the Debbie Harry / Gwen Stefani comparisons begin.
* Isn't it fun to go shopping when you have no money?

May daughter once had a pair of shoes that looked just like the Dorothy slippers. We got them on sale at Target and they left red glitter everywhere she went. She wore them until she couldn't get her toes in them anymore. They were great shoes.
Have fun shopping. Have fun buying red accessories. Go somewhere that usually sells prom stuff to teenage girls and buy something really silly. If you're alone, whisper while you're doing it and laugh out loud at random intervals...it makes the experience much more fun. (although in New York, no one may notice...hmm....)
I do like going in mall stores like Claire's or Afterthoughts or any one of a number of identical "accessory stores."
And I already do the whispering and laughing... and no, nobody notices.
:)
Ooooh, I've tried to go blonde several times and it hasn't...um... worked very well on me.
But yours sounds fabulous! And the price can't be beat. Well done.
