So there's this contest in Glamour magazine. Write 2500-4000 words about your "great real life story" and win $ 10,000 (which I need) and a trip to NYC (which I definitely need) and possible publication in the magazine.
I want to enter it, but I am not so sure I have a great real life story. I've never actually done anything that great, I just write down the stuff that's so everyday. Nothing in my life has been especially traumatic, or exhilarating, or heroic, or anything. This is why I should be a fiction writer and not a memoirist.
Anyway, I post this so that not only can the other great writers I know participate, but also so maybe someone will say "hey des, what about that time..." and proceed to remind me of my great real life story so that I can write it and send it in and win money. Because, as Suzanne likes to quote me, "I will take the money though, with or without publication."

I feel like a total loser because I can't think of anything myself. Except for the time my mom bought me a Malibu Barbie for Christmas, but I don't think that story has more than 20 words ;o)
Are you nuts? You live in alligator land?
Oh this is so cool!
How about your cross country road trip?
Oh that's a good idea... not many people have done that. (You just want to read it, don't you?)
