some saturday things

Yesterday I should have gone to play with the dogs. I haven't done it in a while. But, it was 29 degrees with a severe weather alert for wind. Not the kind of day anyone wants to spend outside, let alone outside for 6 hours. I feel kinda bad, but I wouldn't have had fun, and the dogs wouldn't have had fun, and not many people would be walking by to give the dogs a chance to get homes.

So I stayed in. I did a practice GRE test. It went fine until in the next room The Boyfriend began playing a video game via internet with his brother. I could hear him talking, laughing, and making Star Wars noises. Didn't help me concentrate. But I am getting better at the test; my score in the math section is slightly above that of half of the other test takers'. That was a confusing sentence. Translated, it means I'm in the 53rd percentile. My goal is to maybe up that a little by February 3, when I take the actual test. But I still hold that as I am going into the literature program, my math score shouldn't matter.

My ebay spree has officially ended. I didn't get that red coat, because it got too expensive. I thought maybe I would buy it with my tax refund, but then I did my taxes. Turns out I have to pay them. Apparently I had it set so that I get more money each paycheck instead of one big lump at the end, which, as the sole breadwinner* of the house, makes more sense. And it's not much that I owe. Far less than the price of the coat. I did get a cool vintage sewing book and a couple other cool things though.

So that was my Saturday. One of those days (that don't happen very often) where you actually get a lot done but it doesn't feel like it. I was technically in my pajamas all day. There was some video-game playing and some tv watching - we finished Arrested Development, so now I can sleep at night without wondering what will happen to the Bluths. But I did some important stuff like my taxes and study. And I bleached my hair, so now it's the same bluish-green, but with blonder roots. Soon I'll go back to old red because it's no longer xmas time and hopefully less people will assume that I dyed my hair purple and bluish green to be "festive." Idiots. I'm clearly not over that.

* Ok, ok. The Boyfriend's student loans pay for rent. I do pay for everything else though.

I'm glad to hear that you practiced for the GRE. Yesterday was the perfect day for something like that.

Yeah, I figure I'd try and better myself through standardized testing, even if it means putting off fun things like going outside in the freezing wind.
