Approaching very quickly I have 2 plane rides, each more or less 5 hours long. Approaching even more quickly is the end of the last book of the trilogy I am reading. With the end of this book also comes the end of the 11 books I bought a couple months ago, meaning I will have read every book on my shelf at least once. Time to buy more books, or find a good one to re-read.
As I will have to cover the plane flights plus the expected interim while the people around me zip by in wedding preparations, I want a long book – that way I don’t have to bring several books to weigh down my luggage. Because these are the things I think about while procrastinating for other things, I took a look at the “library” and made my selection: Homer’s Odyssey. It’s long, worth reading again, and it will be kind of fresh to me since I haven’t read it since college (freshman year?).
Then this morning while reading The Times (I love saying that – it makes me feel hoity-toity for some reason) I discovered that a new translation of The Aeneid is coming out Thursday. Though I’m familiar with the Aeneid, I’ve never actually read it. So there’s the book I should buy. Problem is, Thursday is the day I leave. I won’t have time after work to stop by the bookstore, and I’ll need it for the plane.
So I’ll stick with Homer. But I do think it says something about me that this was an issue at all.

And safe, happy travels dear Des...
Looking forward to reading of your adventures!!!
Thanks for the rec!
Marge Simpson felt the same way, I tell ya.
Another good book is "She's Come Undone".
You have such lofty reading choices! I would rather burn my eyes out with hot pokers than be forced to read the odyssey again. I am in awe.
I've got a lot of books.
