The world is playing tricks on me. Someone is swapping the trees on the street where I work. There are pine trees where there were no pine trees before. I know this because I am totally sure that during the winter, the 5 or 6 trees that I walk by twice a day lost all of their leaves. Conifers do not lose their leaves. Conifers don't even have leaves; they have needles. These trees definitely have needles.
I first noticed it on Friday. 2 of the leafed-trees were now needled-trees. Today there was only 1 leaf-tree left. The pine trees are a completely unnatural fixture on this deserted Brooklyn street. Did they think I wouldn't notice? Nobody else seems to notice, but that is because they are not as tree-serbvant as me.
