new year's resolution

I have resolved to stop buying new shoes that hurt my feet, and to gradually phase out the ones I already have. No more squished toes, no more pressure on the ball of my foot, no more wanting to shoot myself every time I take a step.

In CA you can get away with these shoes. You put on your pretty, but painful, high heels and walk the short distance from your house to the car. Then someone drives you (you can't drive yourself because of the heels) to the restaurant, where you walk the short distance from your car to your table. You sit down and eat a nice meal and return home, still only walking short distances.

This is impossible in NY. You put on these same shoes and walk a few blocks to the subway. There are no seats left on the crowded train, so you are forced to stand. When you arrive at your station, you must walk upstairs and a few more blocks to the restaurant. You do get some solace while you're sitting down eating, but you must repeat the process when you want to go home. This leads to becoming a party pooper because you want to go home because your feet hurt.

Nobody likes a party pooper, especially if it's your own party.

The trading of beauty for comfort. Ahh you're getting older, cause it was just your b-day.

How come Carrie Bradshaw always looked so happy? LOL. I heard Sex in the City was mostly filmed in CA.

yeah, I think that is the most unrealistic point of the show. I watch other women in heels, especially towards the end of the day, and most look pretty unhappy. I always thought I was a freak, but now I know it's the women that can wear heels all day that are freaks.
