8 years ago, I spent $40 on a long burgundy skirt. It went down to my ankles and had strips of lace at the bottom. It was so comfortable that I wore it every single day in every single summer. It was one of the few articles of clothing I took in the car on our cross-country drive.
Over the years, I've had to repair a few holes, a few tears. Today I repaired a large tear that I had repaired at least once before, as the last threads were still there. Then I noticed another small tear and repaired that one. I kept finding more and more tears that were technically fixable, but then I found some holes where the fabric had literally disintegrated and could not be fixed.
I realized that it's time to say good by to my favorite skirt. It's served me very well over time, but I just can't keep fixing all the holes to make it work again.
Here's a picture of the skirt in action:
Notice how it matches my summer hat perfectly.
Time to move on I guess. *cry*

I hate to say goodbye to favorite clothes. I had a indigo corduroy shirt that was so soft and lovely...I wore it until one day it just shredded between the cord lines...I still miss it.
I'm very sad about my skirt. There will another be another.
Ah, I feel your pain. My favorite jeans are rapidly disintegrating.
