Friday night I attended a fund-raising burlesque show (yes, apparently there is such a thing) to benefit Planned Parenthood of NY and Haven Coalition, which Suzanne is a coordinator for. The show was a lot of fun, featuring comedians (both good and bad) and strippers. Suzanne won a dildo.
Before the show, we stopped at a vegan fast food joint and had a yummy yummy meal while we watched Chapelle's show on the restaurant tv. Suzanne had never seen the show, so I forced her to take our copy of season 1. Luckily she had a bag fromwinning the dildo. Hilarity and good times were had by all.
Saturday my big plan was to go see The Horrors at the Bowery Ballroom. I took me all week to convince someone (Craig) to go with me, but I kept checking and they weren't sold out yet. Then when we got down there, the bouncer out front announced that they were no longer selling tickets. We stared dumbly, and then walked away with our depression. Not only did I want to see the show, but I wanted to buy the cd as well. It's a UK Indie cd, so it's not like I can just head over to Virgin and pick it up. Which I tried, but of course they didn't have it. So I had to order it from amazon.uk and complain about it. And then find a currency converter to see how much 10.73 pounds is. (It's $20.77)
It was a nice night so we decided to wander, cd-less, hoping that something would spring up for us to do. Nothing did. We meandered in & out of some stores, but not motivated to spend the cash we had reserved for the show. We went into American Apparel, because neither of us had ever been in one, and because I was drawn by the lure of sparkly pants, which they don't have on their website so I can't show you. But $42 is more money than I want to spend on sparkly pants. I realized that most American Apparel clothes are not for me. They are for stick figures. I have too much curve to wear most of the clothes, so that's easy. They did have some cute underwear that I might go back and buy, but last night I bought nothing.
We finally decided on buying a bottle of vodka and going home and getting trashed. We're so mature, right? The liquor store by the train stop is run by 2 Russian guys, and one of them recommended SV vodka, which we bought. He didn't charge us tax because he wanted us to try it and come back and tell him how we liked it. And the vodka was good. When mixed with cranberry juice, the taste of the vodka was barely noticeable, which is just the way I like it. We played several games of Drinking Go Fish and are now spending today kind of wishing we hadn't.
As always, the weekend was good and makes me hate the work week even more.
ps - I've put some new things up on jewelry by des, and don't forget to donate to the AIDS Walk.

Yes, it is gorgeous here and I dragged the comfy chair out under the banana tree, where I drank iced coffee and Goldie zonked out, and then we both realized the Doom of Work is facing us tomorrow.
That's why Sundays are less fun.
Yay for you and your curves, mama. Nice earrings, btw.
Thanks doll!
Oh Vodka.
I'm not such a fan of American Appearel coz I also have curves and coz the CEO is a gross scumbag. Oh well.
Yeah... the CEO is the reason I'd never even been in a store before. You shouldn't have to send in a headshot to the corporate office just to get a retail job.
