very Overheard in NY

Yesterday Suzanne met me at the train station before we proceeded to my house for a nice mix of pizza, soda, tea, hot chocolate, and the Simpsons. I still had no voice* so this allowed us plenty of time to listen to the conversation going on next to us about how the daughter needn't finish her high school degree. A kind stranger interjected and encouraged the daughter to finish because then she can go to college, like him. What does he do in college? He studies biology. Here comes the highlight of the entire train ride:

The mom says:
Man, college biology is hard! Not like high school. You gots to know everything! Like animals & rocks & trees & shit!

At this point, Suzanne and I couldn't help but bust out laughing.

* My voice made its way back throughout the night. I'm still not an opera singer, but then again I never was. Incidentally, my plan was to go this whole week without speaking at work (which would be fairly easy). But I ruined it already by talking to someone on the elevator.
