First off, click here for my Blog For Choice contribution, as the following post has nothing to do with that topic. If you've already read that post, continue reading this one.
Let me start out by saying I love Verizon Wireless.
I called them just now (yes, from work) to do several things:
1. Investigate my options with the "new every 2" deal, in which I am eligible for a free phone after my 2 year contract ends. In 2 days from now.
2. Update my address, because according to them I am still iving in CA. (I get statements online, so they don't need my physical address for anything.)
3. Change my plan to combine with The Boyfriend's, which is also under my name, because neither of us even comes close to using all of our minutes in any given month.
4. Get a new phone number, to prove that I'm a real New Yorker. Come on 917! or 646! No more of this "530" silliness, even though when you write 530 on a calculator, it kind of looks like des. (ms - stay tuned to update any record of my phone number that you do have. But not now. Later.)
I was expecting a big hullaballo because in my experience, customer service people are more than slightly retarded. This person was awesome. I say that because she actually said "awesome" several times throughout our complicated conversation. And "no worries" which is a good reassuring thing to hear.
Besides the physical words that came out of her mouth, she also spewed all sorts of information. That's right, she was extremely competent! For example, doing all that stuff I mentioned above is absolutely no problem. "Just a couple quick clicks for them and the process is seamless to me." As a side note, I didn't actually change my phone or anything yet, but I will in like 2 days. But I know that I can. I can change my phone, plan, number, address, anything I want in the whole world. AND she made sure that all my questions were answered and that I knew that Verizon likes to be very up front with their customers. She said it's a great company to work for. She used to work for one of those "other" phone companies and they were not very nice, either to their employees or to their customers.
I even got a free month of service for signing up for another year. None of that stuff I mentioned above bears anything at all on that... I was just promising to continue using Verizon Wireless in any way shape or form for another year. I have no problem doing that because everything was super easy and the phone person was The Best Customer Service Rep EVER!
That's a title I offically bestow upon her. Unfortunately I don't remember her name, but maybe she'll read this and recognize herself. She actually heavily reminded me of this waitress that is always at Tien Garden, but the phone person said she didn't live in NY, even though she would love to. So it wasn't the waitress, who is also super awesome.
Point is, I love my cellular phone company. The people are awesome. Oh yeah, and I get good coverage and stuff.

I was living in South Fl during the really bad hurricane seasons(04 and 05) and my husband and I were the only ones who used Verizon in our neighborhood. We were the only ones who still had signals after each hurricane. I'll never switch just because of that.
That's really awesome. Having a signa; when you need it? Unbelievable.
I've always been happy with my verizon cell phone. Glad to hear that others are having positive experiences, as one of my other friends does nothing but rail against them and call them satan.
