So, I've got the GRE coming up. I've told you this. My ever-helpful boyfriend tried to be so helpful and buy me a math study book. Here's the phone conversation:
I bought you a book.
Yeah?
To help you study.
Oh.
It's called the....DAMMIT!
Instead of buying the GRE prep book, he accidentally bought the GMAT prep book. That would be great if I were going to business school. But I'm more than a monkey of moderate intelligence that wears a suit. That's why I' m going to be a professor! And that's why I need the GRE prep book.
Ok, we thought: easily remedied. We'll just take the GMAT book back to the NYU bookstore and exchange it for the proper GRE book. But you have to do it within 14 days. OK, that can be managed. So the ever-helpful boyfriend sets out on his new mission. Oh wait, they said. You can't return test materials.
But it's not like we bought the book, used it to study, and are now returning it to get a full cash refund. We bought the wrong book and want to exchange it for the correct one, so we can study for the correct test and be done with it. There is no retuning of money to us. They get an unused book back, and we gave them our money already, plus any additional we might owe.
No. Sorry. That's not allowed.
Asshats.
So now I have a GMAT book that nobody will ever use, and am out $18. Somebody better buy it.

put it on e-bay? maybe?
It's listed on half.com, which is part of ebay. We'll see if anyone buys it though.
NYU is evil.
