I could be off base but just wanted to know if everything is ok?
If not, is there something I can do to help or, if the cause, please let me know so we can fix it.
You seem – (As my only Jewish friend says – Fermished) (sp)
How am I supposed to answer this email from my boss?
Dear Boss,
Actually, yes. Something is wrong. What’s wrong is that I hate my job and I’m bored out of my mind and everyone here is an incompetent idiot and they treat me like I am one as well. There is nobody here that I like or that I can even relate to because they are all my parents’ age; everyone is uncomfortable around me, and they either avoid talking to me at all or talk to me about stupid things that nobody, even them, gives a rat’s ass about. I don’t even make enough money to validate my repetitive, menial existence, and I am literally counting down the days until the end of July 2007 when I quit this job, and all jobs like it, forever and go back to school.
The fact that you have only one Jewish friend and you quote him (incorrectly?) shows that you are a jerk. You tell complete strangers that you’re going to a wedding and you’re “the crazy one so everyone expects you to do something wild” which is incredibly lame and self-centered. And I’m tired of hearing about it.
Actually, nothing is wrong. I’ve just removed the façade that was me pretending to like everyone. This is the real me. When I don’t like someone, it shows, and I don’t try to hide it, in the hopes that they will pick up on it and leave me alone. I don’t engage in small talk with anyone, because I think it is lame and pathetic. I don’t laugh at stupid jokes, especially when everyone makes the same joke every single day.
I know you are only asking me this because you don’t want me to quit, as you would have to hire 3 people to replace me and they still wouldn’t be as good as I am. You don’t really care about me as a person, only as a means of production. You couldn’t care less about the fact that I am still in debt a year after moving. Only that I come in at 8:30, clear my desk, and leave at 5. You also don’t care that I haven’t seen my family in a year & a half, and already have plane tickets to go see them whether you give me the days off or not.
But in real life, I replied that I am tired and my allergies are acting up. Which is still true.

I'm sorry Des. It sucks to be in a job where you aren't comfortable and aren't using your skills. It's less than a year before school, though!
Well, my job sucks, but like you guys said it's because of the type of job it is. They all suck, and I actually won't find a better one. My boss is generally a very good boss, but today I was sick of the world and came very close to walking out and never walking back in.
Ditto on Suebob and laura's comments. It is nice that your boss noticed. Mine pretends to care, but screws me anyway. Soon enough you will get to walk out and not come back. In the meantime, I'm sorry that you are stuck in such an unpleasant situation.
Just don't go shooting the place up because jail is even more tedious and you might not be able to blog.
I agree with Ghandi Rules: prison would be a far bleaker prospect than a cubicle.
I love that fantastic letter. I would write my very own but I need my job to provide health bene's for the fam. SIGH. Don't wanna get Dooced, ya know. Hang in there, recognize this job as a stepping stone, then focus on school and choosing your path. Sadly (and I hate to say it), 95% of jobs suck and most bosses are shiite.Have you ever seen "Office Space"? Check it out if you have a chance...
Boo for the boss. I say frying pan.
That wedding comment makes me think he must be like that boss guy on the office!
2007 is just around the corner. Hang in there. Now imagine that phrase on a poster with a little kitty hanging by one paw on a rope. Then go throw up!
Keep days like this and exchanges like this in mind when you're teaching.
I'm not going to add to that, because it would take too long and end up making me cry.
I'll just say there are a lot of people who believe they would be perfectly satisfied with your job.
Some of them will be your students.
You must help them.
TS
suz - not soon enough, it would seem.
gr - warm bed, 3 squares, and blogs, right? Isn't that the deal?
a - yeah I need that health stuff too. Stupid being healthy. And not only have I seen Office Space, I can recite it through and through.
aj - He is just like the Office boss, but not all the time. Just when he says crap like that. I should draw that kitty poster on MS paint. It would fill up my day.
ts - I love you.
Reading all of your comments throughout today made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Thanks everyone!
wow, your right, you might have wrote my blog!
