revenge of the nerdblog

Recently it was revealed to me, via very important internet quiz, that I am a Pure Nerd. Did you need more proof?

I’ve bought tickets for myself and significant other to Nerdfest, er, Nextfest. It will be my first Convention. It is a technology fair, showcasing the latest toys. However, they have promised robots (and fembots) so how can I resist? And if I’m to be a famous sci-fi writer, I need to do research. Better yet, the Boyfriend is more than willing to expose his inner nerd* (not that way, perv!) and attend this futuristic festival with me. I probably would have gone by myself, but I’m slightly cooler if there is someone with me. Plus it’s less fun to be a loner.

It’s important that I do this to show that I am comfortable with my nerdiness. Otherwise my Saturday would be spent one of two ways: at Coney Island or CBGB. I can do those any old time - except for it being the last show at CBGB and there is a possibility of purchase of Coney Island by Disney – but Nextfest is 3 days only!

After purchasing my tickets online during work hours (what else am I going to do there?) I decided to design the logo for my new rockabilly band, Betty Head and the Ray Guns©. Now - to all my loyal fans, don’t get too excited to see this awesome new band, because there are no shows in the near future. But I’m working on it. All I need is a manager. And a venue. And some musicians. But I can do vocals, and I have a logo and band name. Clearly Betty Head and the Ray Guns is up and coming.

So anyway, the logo.

I printed out a version and hung it cleverly on a file cabinet, aimed at the entryway to my workspace. The great thing is, only I can see it. So now when people are talking to me, they might just get an imaginary (or is it?) sonic blast to the brain. Who knows what will happen? I think their brain will slowly dissolve and melt out of their ears. The process has to be slow because I don’t want brain goo on my floor.

I don’t think that makes me a nerd. Just realistic.

I will give a full report on the Nextfest probably Saturday night or Sunday, so stay tuned for that.
