And now... PART DEUX!

Ok, here it is by popular demand… Labour Day weekend!

I started out by dying my hair purple. I wanted to do it green and black, but I have neither of those dyes. I would go buy them, but I haven’t found a store in NY that sells Punky Color. Manic Panic is ok, but if you want the color to last more than a week, it’s not for you. So I’m purple for a bit.

Saturday Craig and I went to a “Celebration of Meat” barbeque. Sounds like a good idea for vegetarians, no? But there was lots of yummy non-meat for us, including handmade guacamole, nacho cheese Doritos, veggie burgers, and dessert chex mix that was in part invented by Suzanne. Chocolate & caramel – coated chex, pretzels, various other sweet things, and – thanks to Suzanne – Reese’s Pieces. Then at the very end there was a make-your-own-sundae bar.

I might mention that the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto were hitting Long Island at that time, so the barbeque was moved indoors. Rather than die from noxious fume asphyxiation, we sat staring at the rain through the wide-open garage door. The close quarters were actually a plus, because they forced us to mingle and meet new people. And meet new people I did, some of whom I genuinely liked. For example, Cousin. She made up 1/3 of the winningest Cranium team ever. I don’t need to mention who made up the rest. **cough - me & Craig - cough**

Aside from the over-satiation from too much good food, I would say the Saturday inside barbeque was a success.

Sunday was a day off. Back to normal life. Grocery shopping. DVDs of Mars Attacks and several episodes of The Young Ones. Sleeping. Good times.

Monday. Day off from work (yay!) but off to another barbeque. Man, Labour Day weekend is hard times! This barbeque was significantly smaller, with only 6 people in attendance instead of the 30+ from Saturday. There was an equal array of food for us to eat, with veggie kababs, portabello mushroom sandwiches, and lots of sausages followed by their inappropriate jokes. I made my world-famous strawberry cheesecake and that was devoured within 30 seconds. Yum-diddly-umptious. Although I did learn one horrifying fact: Britney Spears covers Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock & Roll.” I was going to fight my friend who had it on her playlist, but I love her. I decided instead to tell Ms. Jett and let her fight Britney. Either way, I fight was bound to happen.

I have also realized I am addicted to dogs. Normally I get my weekly dose when I go volunteer, but they are still building the new shelter. Until then, I am dogless. I find myself talking about dogs, my dogs in particular, for no reason and at inappropriate times. Not as inappropriate as the aforementioned sausages, but still quite the non-sequitar. Hopefully within a few weeks I will be back to spreading my adopt-a-dog propaganda to you all.

So now I’m back at work. Less fun. Less food. Less friends. Boo. BOO I say!

I'm so glad that you had fun, despite the lack of portobello mushroom sandwiches, which I realize that from now on must be served at any BBQ I attend, because they are delicious. Cousin is pretty damn cool. I'm glad she's around.

As for the strawberry cheesecake, I think that you must bring one to any future event we attend. Sounds amazing.
