I found the best bar last night. Ok, it was shown to me by a friend. But it was fun times.
Druid's. 736 Tenth Ave (between 50th & 51st St.). Hell's Kitchen. NY.
It has a nice backyard / garden, as so many of my new summer discoveries do. People were smoking, but at least they weren't inside making me die even faster. My Malibu & Coke was yummy, and the bartender was nice. She asked if I wanted a lime in the drink, and gave me a cherry instead when I expressed interest in the general cherry direction.
The bathroom was one of the coolest parts. It was small, sure, they all are - but I liked it. It was pentagon-shaped, with the triangular tip holding the sink. The very tippy tip had a tiny shelf for the soap. The rectangular part had enough room for the toilet and the trash can, and maybe your feet if you could bend the right way. The walls were black with mirrors on them, and the floor was tiny black & white checkered. That is my favorite type of floor. And - the bathroom was clean. Not even any grafitto-tagging. Of course, I can't speak for the men's as there was no line so I only used the women's.
We weren't there at happy hour so my drink was $6 or $7, but that's pretty average. It wasn't crowded because it was a Monday. And because it was in Hell's Kitchen. Craig & I left after 1 drink because it was already very late, but I would like to have stayed. Maybe I'll make the trek up there again sometime. Feel free to join me.
Thumbs up from des.
