why?

1. Someone gives you something to file away
2. The next day, they ask for it back. But they don't know which one it is.
3. So you give them the whole file and tell them they are free to look for it. You are busy.
4. They stand outside your cubicle "looking" for it.
5. They audibly criticize your filing system (numerically? WTF?) to "themselves," as nobody except you is around.
6. They apparently do not realize that the 6-foot high cubicle walls are sound-pentetrable.
7. They react by running away like a dog with its tail between its legs when you tell them that they are free to organize things before they give them to you, because you're sure they can do a better job.
8. They give you back the file, completely out of order.
9. They complain and bitch when you tell your boss (who walked in during this exchange) that you are not reorganizing it. That guy has to do it.
10. They grab it back out of your hand and grudgingly set to putting the files back in order.
11. You tell them they shouldn't have messed it up, or better yet, they should have known what they were looking for. That way you could have given it to them quickly and easily.

What would possess someone to act in this way? This is how coworkers get stabbed, people.
